The good: Garcia has good size and is a smooth athlete with good movement skills and the recovery speed to match up in coverage. He has quick footwork with good ball reactions. He is a sure tackler in run support with the ability to get off blockers and make the stop at the line. He has fine initial quickness with excellent read and react ability on the plays in front of him. He has fine leaping ability and ball skills that allows him to break up numerous passes. The bad: He lacks top recovery speed and is best suited for a zone scheme where his instincts and playmaking ability could give him a chance to play a key role in a defense as either a nickel corner or possible starter. He attempts to be a physical in press coverage but he needs development in that role especially his hand usage. He is the type of corner who liked to gamble to make plays and is confident in his ability to cover, but his level of competition allowed him to get away with mistakes vs a lower caliber of receiver. He has good hips and loses little in transition to ride a receivers’ hip though he lacks the strong recovery speed to make up for lost ground in the deep game. Outlook: Garcia has good size and adequate speed for the corner position. Has the critical instincts to play up to his athletic ability. He should be a valuable role cover man in the dime packages with some upside over time. He can become a nickel corner with some development and is a nice late pick with the talent to be a surprise.
